Pilates
Pilates helps to strengthen and lengthen the body creating a strong, lean, mobile body with improved posture. Pilates taught and executed well will give you a certain poise. This is the natural alignment of our body; it is the way one holds their self while sitting, standing, walking, basically everything.
Our poise reveals a lot about us – our personality, character, values, and current state of mind & well-being. It is my job to help you become aware of your body, the health of your body’s balance, and for me to help you create a fitter and healthier version of yourself, whilst also building your confidence, educating and understanding your own body.
Benefits:
• Core Stability & Posture Alignment
• Muscle Tone and Strength
• Improved Body Awareness
• Improved Mobility / Flexibility
• Improved Motor Skills
• Reduction & Prevention Back / Joint Pain
I stay true to the Pilates Method
Many people have achieved their goal under my instruction. Although I am qualified to teach many different disciplines I mainly specialise in teaching Pilates. Pilates helped me to align and balance my body when I was injured. This is why I got qualified to teach this fabulous exercise technique over 18 years ago. I was teaching this technique before many others, when it was only really the rich and famous who took to practicing Pilates! Most people thought it was something to do with flying planes, thinking I was a pilot!! Funny, it was very different back then!
I strongly believe that one will benefit more from one-to-one sessions, however, it can be taught in a group of no more than 12 to be effective and safe. This is why I choose not to teach in Leisure Centres, Fitness Clubs etc. When numbers are larger than 12 and new people come and go each week. The tutor will struggle to teach good practice and often the class session will turn into a Legs, Bums and Tums session and not Pilates.
I am constantly attending courses to keep up-to-date with the latest scientific findings of how each exercise can help or hamper a certain issue in one’s body. Pilates is very postural based. I am a qualified Sports Massage Therapist which helps me understand the body further. My aim is not to hinder but to improve, if I can, to cure.
